Our Achievements

1979 Special School started.
1982 Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority allotted present place.
1985 Provisional Recognition from Social Welfare Department of Government of Maharashtra.
1990 Permanent recognition from Social Welfare Department of Government of Maharashtra.
1991 A Student – Nitin Desai won a gold medal in Swimming at Minneapolis USA in international Special Olympics.
1993 Shifted to the new Building with two floors in the present address.
1993 Deepak Kumar Lalji Chheda Sulabha Vocational Training Centre was started for Students above 18 years of Age.
They are trained in Weaving, File Making, Agarbatti Making, Jewelry Making and Screen Printing.etc.
1996Completed four storay building rooms on each floor were inaugurated by respective donors
1998 Smt. Sakarben Dharshi Monshri Bhujpurwala Sulabha Speech Therapy Centre.
2002 Rujuta Hardini Amrut Gada Early Intervention Clinic to cater to children identified with developmental delays from 6 months to 5 years of Age was inaugurated.
2003 Sulabha child guidance centre was started.
2004 Deepak Kumar Lalji Chheda Sulabha Vocational Training Centre was recognised by Social Welfare Department of Government of Maharashtra.
2005 Received Outstanding Institution Award from Shri Hariharputra Bhajan Samaj.
2006 Institute was selected as one of the seven Guidance and Consoling Centre by District Social Welfare office Mumbai – Suburban.
2007 (a) 4 Students participated in National level Vocation Competition organised by Pathway Foundation, chennai and won 1st & 2nd prizes in imitation jewellery making and key chain making.
(b) Won the Runner up trophy in inter-school sports meet at Mumbai Suburban District Level.
2008 (A) – In the video festival 2008 organised by Handicap. Lyceum Prague Co. in Prague Republic of Czech, a film on ‘Sulabha School’ won the Gold Albert Prize for processing and content of the films.
(B) The schools won Rotating Trophy for inter school sports organized by inner wheel club of North Island for 15 consecutive.
2009 5 students participated in National Games at Hyderabad and Mumbai in Roller Scatting and Swimming and won the Gold Medals.
Students from Lawrence Ville School, New Jersey USA were placed in our school for their community work.
2010 (A) Rujuta Hardini Amrut Gada Sulabha Early Intervention Clinic was shifted to 5th floor, with more equipments and in a bigger space.
(B) Students from our school are appearing for Open Basic Education conducted by “Pratham” affiliated to National Institute of open school, New Delhi.
2011 (A) 5th floor was constructed with the help of Late Hon.MP Mr. Gurudas Kamath and MLA Hon. Mr. Chandrakant Handore .
(B) We inaugurated the Bhagini Sanskar Parishad Hall on the 5th floor.
2012 On ground floor Mrs. Meena Ranade, Multipurpose hall was inaugurated.
A seminar on Inclusive education was organized by trust in Association with Erasmus Munds Alurmini Association.
2013 (A) Painting of 3 students were sent to ‘Samarth’ New Delhi. They were displayed at Exhibition of Paintings by Artists with disability.
(B) Student Afrin Ansari won Bronze Medal in Swimming at Asia Pacific Special Games in Australia.
(C) Two students Afrin Ansari and Vrushali Shinde featured in Marathi Movie “Yellow”based on special girl’s Success story.
2014 ‘Sulabha Fair’ was organised on 13th December 2014.
2015 (a) Manoj Gole, trainee of Deepak Kumar Lalaji Chheda Vocational Training Centre is employed in
R.S.Mani Supermarket in Packing division.
(b) Vijay Kale received Best Employee Award, “Late Shri Bhikhubhai C Shah” Memorial Award from Society for the Vocational Rehabilitation of Retarded, Tardeo.
2016 (a) ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solution – Equipped one Classroom as Audio Visual Room as a CSR
activity.
(b) Student –Renuka Kamble received “Achiever’s Award”from Cerebral Palsy Association of India.
(c) Trainee-Harsh Sanghavi received an Award from Pragati Kendra for being self reliant in the Society.
2017 The Internal Replastering and Painting work of the school and Deepak Kumar Lalji Chheda Sulabha Vocational Training Centre was done through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) OF DHL Service, India.
2018 (A) Hospitality Assistant training for Student of our school was held in collaboration with La
Monnaine skills and Save the children, India. All the 8 students cleared the exam under the
skill development Ministry.
(B) Programme on Self Advocacy Training was held for parents, students and for Teacher in
collaboration with parivaar and Christian blind mission at our institution

The above achievements would not have been possible without the involvement of trained staff of the school and of Vocational Training Centre and help of support staff.

The school receives grant for salaries of staff for sanctioned strength of 85 students. We have 101 students and so we have to appoint additional teachers. The trust takes the responsibility of Expenditure for maintenance of the building, providing various facilities such as Speech Therapy; Arts based therapy, Music, Coaching in Swimming, Dance.
