JOURNEY FROM 1979

1. The Sulabha Trust For Special Education and Research is one of its kind which conducts following sections :
   • a) Sulabha Special School.
   • b) Deepak Kumar Lalji Chheda Sulabha Vocational Training Centre.
   • c) Rujuta Hardini Amrut Gada Sulabha Early Intervention Clinic.
   • d) Smt. Sakarben Dharshi Monshi Bhujpurwala Sulabha Speech Therapy Centre.
   • e) Sulabha Guidance and Counselling Centre.
2. The Trust has completed 35 successful years of conducting the above activities.

   The Trust started Sulabha Special School in 1979 in the International year of child. After acquiring its own premises at Tilak nagar, the trust initially constructed 2 floors and the school was shifted to new premises in 1993.

   After raising fund through charity drive, 3rd and 4th floor were constructed in 1996.

   The Deepak Kumar Lalji Chedda Sulabha Vocational Training Centre was shifted to 4th floor.

   The facility of Speech Therapy and Audiometry was started in 1998 in the name of Sakarben Dharshi Monshi Bhujpuriwala.

   Rujuta Hardini Amrut Gada Sulabha Early Intervetion clinic for children below 6 years was started in year 2002.

   The Guidance and Counseling Centre was started in year 2008.

   5th floor was added in 2011 with multipurpose hall with the Support of Shri Gurudas Kamat, MP and Bhagini Sanskar Parishad.

   There are 129 Life Members of the Trust. In addition to Managing Committee, the Trust has Advisory Committee for guidance on various issues.

3. The School is located in North East suburbs of Mumbai. The students come from different suburb areas like Chembur, Ghatkopar, Tilak Nagar, Mankhurd, Kurla, Govandi, Bhandup.
4. The sanctioned strength of students is 85 but the school has more than 110 students at present. The Trust appoints additional staff to care to needs of these students and provide appropriate services and facilities to them.
5. We provide the falicities of Legal gardianship to the students and trainies. The needy 83 students got the benefit of it.
6. The Trust ensures to give free education and training to the students admitted in the school and vocational training centre under the scheme of sponsorship. Voluntary organizations like Lions, Lionesses, Leo, Rotary, Inner Wheel Club and individuals do sponsor the education of deserving students.
7. We have a panel of Doctors like General practitioners, Psychiatrist, Pediatrician, Phusician, Dentists, Radiologist from local area. They provide free services to our students. We have recently started Medical and Dental fund to take care.
8. The students of our school have brought laurels and glory by participating Sports Organised by District, State, National and International levels through Special Olympics (Bharat) Maharashtra.
9. All the Managing Committee members are very active. The Managing committee has sincerely worked to keep the standards and quality of services provided to these children.
